Pistachios belong to the family Ancardiaceae, which usually grow up to 8 meters. Pistachio tree is resistant to different degrees of air and the best temperature for its cultivation is between 25 and 45 degrees Celsius. The pistachio tree, like the palm tree, is resistant to water stress and water shortage, and its roots grow deep into the ground. Depending on the species, the pistachio tree enters the fruiting period 7 to 10 years after planting and lives for 80 to 100 years.

Pistachio is one of the most important export products of the agricultural sector and one of the most important products in Iran’s non-oil exports. Pistachio is very important in export products due to creating a lot of added value and having a very high profit margin in Iran’s agricultural economy, and for this reason it has been considered by many traders, traders and investors.
Iran used to be known as the first and most important exporter of pistachios, but for many years the United States has become a serious competitor in this field. The country has become an important export hub for pistachio plantations in California. In recent years, this amount has increased even more than in Iran.
How is the quality standard of pistachio (ounce) determined?
Oatmeal is a criterion for measuring the size, ripeness and quality of pistachios, but it should be noted that this is not the only condition for quality and also determines its price.
To determine the quality or ounce of pistachios, we weigh 142 grams of pistachios and count the number of pistachios. Any number obtained is considered pistachio ounce.
for example :
We weigh 142 grams of a sample of Akbari pistachio, in which there are 110 pistachio seeds in this 142 grams. The ounce of this pistachio sample is 22. But a sample of this type with the same hot amount of 120 pistachio seeds has 24 ounces of this sample of pistachios. The higher the ounce, the lower the price of that type of pistachio.
